SSH connexion for user other than root?

Hello,

I've recently configured a SSH key pair connexion between my server and PUTTY but it seems that this connexion was applied on the root user.

How can I create a key pair for a different user so that I can have PermitRootLogin turned off?

The public part of your key needs to be stored in "~<username>/.ssh/authorized_keys" in order to use that key to authenticate as "<username>".
