Hi all - back from the holidays and finished moving to Canada, so you'll start to see me around again. :)

Before I killed my last computer, I was investigating an open source CMS with a killer graphical backend. I thought I read about it here, but now I can't find it.

It's not Plone.
It's not Mambo.
It's not Drupal.
It's not any of the major blogging platforms (MT, typo, wordpress, etc.)

I think the name started with an "x", but I'm not 100% on that. I've scoured cmsmatrix to no avail.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? It was in beta (pre 1.0 release), and when I say the admin was killer, I mean it. You'll know it if you see it.

Please help... ;-)

Define "Killer graphical backend"!

Typo3 can be configured using different skins - a few of them VERY stylish (if not mandatorily very useable).

Jake, do you remember whether it was the usual PHP/MySQL, or was it Perl, Python, .NET, JSP? Was it bloggish or more general? Definitely open source?

Was it Xaraya [xaraya.com]?

A killer CMS is like the Holy Grail... I want a copy too!;)

Not xaraya... It was killer, encyclo, that's why I'm pissed I didn't bookmark it. :)

Is it on www.cmsmatrix.org or www.opensourcecms.com?

I've scoured cmsmatrix to no avail.

;-)

I did look through the matrix again this morning, and couldn't find it. I'm kicking myself now...

etomite

It certainly looks good - were your tests conclusive in any way? Is it "beta" meaning "buggy, unstable, undocumented, but with good promise", or "beta" meaning "rapid development but verging on production-ready"?

In any case, I'm going to give it a try!

Looks nice. But browsing through the site I don't find anything I CAN'T do with Typo3 so far.

It's the backend I was impressed about. The admin just seemed beyond anything else that was out there.

I've used typo3 before, it's nice. My favorite at the moment is Plone, simply because it's extendable in python which I prefer.

But etomite's admin... wow.

encyclo - My tests went something like install, say "oh man, this is really cool!", shut down computer, and move to Canada. So no, they weren't conclusive. I'll probably install a copy this weekend and fiddle with it more. ;-)
