What distro do you have in mind?

If you are talking about SuSe 9.1 Pro

It may the best you can find for quite a while.

I just switched 5 of my production servers to gentoo. Works great, I'm totally happy with it so far.

Previously I was using redhat (7.3 and 9).

My wife's desktop at home is also a gentoo. There are some minor problems there.. Could be unrelated to gentoo though.

But for servers -- it's just what I wanted -- FreeBSD'ish linux.

Great distro.

Just wish it didn't take so long to install, though the benefits of compiling for your specific system mean (for us at least) that you get every possible last ounce of oomph out of your hardware.

7th time aroung the installation is not that bad.

I actually had to install it on a machine without any bootable devices except network card. Quite frankly -- I don't know how I would be doing that with redhat for instance, but I had no problems with gentoo.

Btw, beware of new dell 750's - they come without cd/floppy unless you ask specifically. Ask me how I know :)
