Java on Debian: Good Idea?

Because Debian must be 100% Free and Sun Java only supporting Redhat. I am not sure I should install it in Debian. I like Debian because it is easy to maintain. But I am afraid it is not stable when it is using Sun Java. My purpose is to run Jboss Nukes. Actually, I am also thinking whether to use MySQL or PostgreSQL. I prefer Postgresql but most of my work are developed in Windows. And Postgresql has not yet release its Windows version.

According to it, the Sun JVM works fine.
