I mapped my C: & D: drives of Win2k on my Linux. Only heck now I cannot play any music on my Linux...
It has detected my soundcard The drived is loaded - it plays test sound.. It shows me paying a song but I can hear anything :(

Ok Im assuming your using, Redhat or Fedora and your trying to play mp3s Redhat doesn't support playing mp3's by default you should get the current rpm for XMMS from there website im not sure if I can post it here, if you want mp3 support in KDE enviroment just ask me and I can send you how to do it its not easy but if your new to linux it might help you navigate the OS.

Press CTRL-P over XMMS and check the "output plugin" settings. If it is set to something different to OSS or Alsa you may be getting the sound sent to some odd place instead of the speakers.
For KDE either set it to Arts or disable the arts sound server on the control panel (quick response, outrun may surely give a better, more detailed one).
