I finally got the nerve up to uninstall all the linux printing stuff and installed Cups -w gimp-print. I can't believe the difference in the printer out-put. The Gui is browser based and is very easy to use. Setting up printers and manageing print jobs is much cleaner.
With the latest release of samba you just tell it that cups is handling the printing and my windows clients use it as well. What is interesting is that my windows machines printing is better with cups then with the installed epson drivers and software on windows.
For anyone who is having a hard time getting Linux to produce windows quality printing ...
Cups is the answer. It was for me!
