very simple vim question

try as i may i am unable to copy text in vim to the keyboard. i can copy and paste to my heart's content within the programme itself, but how for instance can i copy a paragraph and paste it into an external app, like gedit?

Left click and drag to highlight, middle mouse button to paste.

hi ,,thats gr8,,
if u r using vim ,,
then very simple to copy and paste..
use following command,,
1) suppose u r in vi editor,,then means u want tu copy a word like "deepak" then click the cursur on deepak..then use esc key then : then yy and
and where is ur curser u will show a copy ,,in tec turm
esc:yy and enter...
yy is the copy command in linux,(yenk)
