Nothing new there, just more of the same.

It is always framed the same, from the perspective of the person wanting a linking to their website offering to pay for it. But what I find is more prevalent now is that website are refusing to link out without receiving compensation. They will still show your content, credit you with a text mention, or if they link it will be no-followed. Natural no-follow links are rare these days.

The famous, I credited you, look in the tiny prints , in light gray on white background, ... or sometimes the so call credits are in a collapsed div, that a user needs to click...

This will be fun, if one day, the AI of Google succeeds to identify the sources, and list only them in the SERP.... but I know it's never going to happen.

Meanwhile, once in a while, I am succeeding to cause collateral damages, by cloaking unfairly hot linked images, and replacing them with #*$!.

Tell ya my feelings on no follow links BS. IMO no follow carry weight. I'll take any natural link no follow or follow and happy to get it.

Yeah, a link is important, regardless of nofollow.

I think some people focus too much on search ranking and not enough on marketing.
