Recently one of my website get some backlinks from top website forum discussions like microsoft, IBM, Adobe, apple, photoshop.
- I know most of them are nofollow but they are from high authority domains.
- None of them are having keyword as anchor text.
Just wondering - these backlinks will help in rankings improvement or not?

If they are natural I don't see why not but I wouldn't expect to see a huge bump in traffic or anything.

Google has stated in the past year that they take the nofollow setting as a suggestion only now.

This will definitely not be superfluous.
If the link is organic and well placed in the right place, it will attract additional traffic.

Generally most of famous and reputed forums will use nofollow links but if those forums are accepted your links means your post is genuine and full with information (Otherwise moderators delete promptly). Google consider nofollow link as informative sites means you are in eyes of search engines now that one good reputed forums are added your links.

So you will get benefits for sure.

Forums links are also work as advertisement board so you can get also good amount of traffics if you are doing all things well and following forums guidelines and rules.

Yes, there is a certain disconnect between the question implied in the topic header and the question as actually asked in the body of the post.

If links in a forum thread or public Q&A venue result in actual humans visiting the linked page, I would call that helpful.
