Will receiving too many strong backlinks have a negative SEO effect?

Sounds weird, huh?

Well first of all hello. I was planning to publish 10 articles on a few local news agency websites (PR= 5,6,7) and traffic exceeds 100K unique visitors/day. I was wondering if Google will look at them as paid links and penalize my site.

My site already has lots of natural links and ranks pretty well on Google. However, Im thinking of enhancing its ranking through lots of very strong backlinks from 3 sources.

Many smaller news websites copy/paste the content through RSS and programmed robots. So I may be receiving more [than expected] backlinks.

Will that raise a red flag? Should I risk it? Since its very difficult to receive such backlinks and now that I have the chance I figured I should take a shot at it?

The 3 top news agency websites normally do not give out backlinks and since I know one of the people I figured it wouldn't hurt purchasing backlinks when my site is already established and ranks pretty well.

I am planning to submit 20 articles to all 3 news agency websites within a 2 month period.

Any comments?

thanks in advance for your time.

As an author of content you can post it where ever you like (though most authors/creators prefer to keep it under their specific control).

We already know that paid/reciprocal linking is generally frowned upon, so... what is the end game desired? What benefit is sought? And is this the best way to do it?

It is frowned upon however I think its part of marketing and advertising... Purchasing banner slots and text links. No?

Thats my concern.

I'm curious .. @dailypress ....

Did you embark on the campaign, and how did it work out?

(Thanks to the new members for bumping this up!)
