Can i write 1 press release and submit it to all the press release websites or do i have write unique for each website?
Someone told me that i can write 5 and submit them with variation.
What is the Google's update according to the press releases? I think it was that i can submit as many as i want but i have to make them nofollow.
I did put 4 press releases on my website and many bloggers copied it to their own website. Will it hurt my website ranking?

Press releases are not link building. It's a spam tactic. Press releases should only be done for traditional public relations reasons. Never for link building. It's done. Over. Has been for a few years now.

+1 to what martinibuster said. It's been YEARS since I've seen ANY of my old PR's in search results. Like most web techies I look at pages 2-10 (or more) of the search results.

Prior to G00gle dialling back the influence of PR's in the SERPS I used to check my logs for inbound traffic from the links within them. Zero, zippo, nada....only saw my click (to see if it worked). Link building that doesn't drive HUMAN visitors is a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!

I use press releases a lot and I think they are great for marketing - but they are not good for link building. Great tool for reputation management and getting some URLS and pages about you indexed for branding. I think in the B2B niche markets they serve a purpose.

As a magazine editor I want a press release in my inbox. I have more important things to do than hunt them down on the web.

As Martinbuster said, they are for PR not link building.
