hi all,

I was wondering if there is any general formula for the cost of a backlink.

I just ran into a software that calculates a backlinks worth from a specific page and I was wondering if thats even possible.

How much should I be paying to publish an Article on a News website with a PageRank of 6?

Is that question even legit?

PageRank is no longer a predictor of how well a site will benefit from a link. Perhaps a better metric is Majestic's TrustFlow metric. It adds relevance to their own proprietary trust metric. The original TrustRank paper was shown by subsequent research to have been flawed and prone to biases. Researchers found that by grouping sites according to niche buckets then calculating a TrustMetric in that manner they were able to obtain better results. Third party metrics based on the original seed-set based TrustRank metric are inaccurate and more importantly will not correlate with anything in use by any search engine since that methodology was shown to be inaccurate. Majestic's TrustFlow metric is more accurate as a metric itself. If the search engines use a form of TrustRank, I believe it would be something that resembles that metric because that's where the scientific research pretty much left off.
