If you use a secondary URL that you own for shortening URL'S (especially for twitter), can it pass PR back to your site?

If someone posts a link on a site to:

abc.short/124 which redirects to www.domain.com/title/name-description-date, surely if this is 301'ed you would still get PR from the short URL ?

According to Google, yes. It's treated like any other 301.

Nice find :) If you receive a link from twitter it will be no-followed but if someone shares that link on a blog it will receive PR.

Yes. Search engines passes page rank to shorten url as they used 301 redirection to divert the traffic.

Not all URL shorteners use 301 redirects, some use 302 redirects.

Any idea which ones use 301's and which use 302's?

@jaffstar I agree with you. Links from twitter are no follow and won't give any pr benefit but links from blogs(shortened links) will still benefit for pr.
