A great link-building strategy

Yesterday I received an email from a webmaster in which he pointed out at least four links on my links page that went to 404's. He then asked if I would consider adding a link to his relevant site.

I was so grateful for his extra effort that I added his link without requesting a reciprocal.

I don't know if that's his MO, or if he just noticed, but doing something for someone first before asking is always a good idea.

Automate the parts of it that require no brainer workload, and spice up charisma, creativity and character on the parts that require real substance.

Like Wheel has mentioned, you will develop high quality links if you continue working hard finding unique angles to promote your unique business.

I prefer to automate the "looking" part, and leave the hard work part to picking up the phone and forging partnerships.
