Say you have a site with an index page with PR = 5 and a lot of deep links with PR = 0.

Does the deep links some how benifit from beeing og a site with a high index PR, or are they simply treated by Google as any other links with PR = 0 on say a small personal website with index PR = 0 ?

I presume they are, just would like to get it confirmed :)

Deep links help regardless of the PR. Forget about PR entirely. If you can get RELEVANT deep links, get them regardless of pagerank and other metrics.

Remember linking is a branding and traffic building function, not just an SEO function. And a page with PR=0 today will most likely have higher PR in the future so do not turn down a link opportunity (especially relevant deep link) just because of the page rank.
