I'm not sure if this has been posted... can't recall seeing anything about it.

I've started to get link exchange requests where "because my site has already been linked to from site A, would I be so kind as to link back to site B"

It turns out that our esteemed links expert has sod all to do with site A. They are dishonestly laying claim site A's links in hopes you will fall for the ploy and send them a one way to site B.

I tumbled on this when site A looked familiar, probably because I negotiated it with the real owner about a year ago! In another case, they offered me a link from one of my own client sites!

Let the linker beware.

I'm starting to see this. In some cases link directories had been set up on similar domains, with the hope you wouldn't notice the sly change of domains. In other cases the second domain has absolutely nothing to do with the site looking for your link.

Three way linking...(TWL)

Question 1)

Would you do TWLs if there was no Google? The answer is no. Then, TWL is gaming. Very simple.

question 2)

What advantage is there to TWL? Anwer: Virtually none. This is just cooked up logic coming from people who have convinced themsleves that reciprocated links are somehow of less value. That has never, ever been proven anywhere, by anyone. Maybe because there is virtually no reality to that argument, so proof does not exist?

Anyone who wants to argue otherwise should bring PROOF. Not opinion. And since there is NO PROOF, then people who claim otherwise will simply call me an idiot and sling insults.

C'mon folks. Do better. If you say recip links are worth less, then bring PROOF...

Why would you give a link to their primary site, where they want to rank well, and take one back from one of their junk sites?
