I don't have any numbers to back it up, but my gut says that it won't help the serps any.
Keep in mind that driving traffic and moving in the serps should be treated seperatly. Maybe if those java ads are run on a few sites that get a ton of visitors a day... then you very well might gain some good traffic.
On the other hand, if you get little or no traffic, plus no gain in the serps because of the java issue, then you've waisted your money.
There was no change to my PR though. it stayed at PR4.
It is a quick way to get indexed by the search engines.
It is a guaraneed way to get higfher ranking sites linking to you.
How many links you need or what the results will be are unpredictable.
I read once on a personal blog reviewing some of the link merchants... the author actually got some insights and does not recommend buying from text link ads.
Also, if you have not used them before, they generally give you $100 worth of free links the first month. Make sure you use all of this, but you may want to backdown from there near the end of your 30 days if you do not want to spend that much, as they automatically renew if still active at the end of the month.
