Hello there all,

I do not normally buy links, but I have an opportunity to buy a PR7 link on a page & topic directly related to my site, Alexa ranking around 1200, for $60 (US) a month.

I realize it is up to me to decide if the expense is worth the potential benefit to my business, but does this sound like a reasonable amount of money to ask for such a link?

Thanks,

I would not value a link based on Pagerank and Alexa. Both carry little value. Alexa can be manipulated very easily.

Try taking into account some of these factors:
-age of site
-back links to site
-back links to page
-quality of backlinks
-rankings of page
-number of links on page
-are other SEOed sites listed on the site
-will it deliver traffic

Good Luck!

Thanks Justilien,

Here's more info:

backlinks: 35000 in google, 470000 yahoo
backlinks to actual page: 120 google, 10200 yahoo
seo links: 7 on each page
other links: internal to each section of this site, probably 50
age of site: 9 years
likelihood of traffic: my guess low to average due to the bottom lhs placement of the actual link, but it does match the navigation scheme tho

What do you think? To me it seems like a good deal, but I am no expert on buying links so any extra advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Desi

Have you checked how the "other SEO links" are doing in the serps? How many of that sites links show as backlinks? Also, be aware, agressive link filters can be nasty these days - dunno how they'll feel about a ROS from a site this large, in the footer (obvious SEO ad space).

if the your link were to be placed in the bottom, maybe the link could not bring satisfied traffic to your site.

In a year you drop $720. For $720 I would buy 36 $20 links from directories, all with varied anchor text. But that's just me.

I thought that most directories were getting kicked by the Goog?

Anyway, I think it's a good price for a site with those stats. If nothing else, it'll pass PR to you and you'll rank a bit better. Of course, if you're already ranked well enough in the SERPs, find out where your link will show up so you can gauge whether or not the possible traffic's worth $60/mo.
