Outbound graphic links - as good as text links?

outbound links to sites that rank well for a key phrase

I am considering putting outbound links onto my home page and have read in many posts that outbound links - to sites that rank high in the keywords I want to rank well on - will help my page rank higher. The page already has these site's logos(.gif)on it, I was wondering if I made these links back to theirs sites would this be beneficial to me?

There may be some benefit in doing this but you should use keyword text to link out as opposed to graphics (or both).

You may want to focus on all angles to make sure your IBL campaign looks as natural as possible. Throw some image links into the mix if you got nothin to lose.
