Always worth checking that the page size is 101k or less, despite all the others who have happily linked. I thought that I had found a world record a few months ago with 285k but a real estate site I found today beats them all, 885k.

885k is nothing. I regualrly see pages over 1mb and sometimes over 2mb. I do not seek these pages out, because there are better pages to seek. The reason why people are still signing these pages is because they are in a database and are automatically signing it. As for the 101k limit, you can go past that quite a bit and search engines will still give you some benefit.

Hi again, Maybe I was too narrow minded on the 101k, but over 96% of our traffic comes from Google. Would be interested to know of a commercial site with a 1mb links page.

Unasked for two cents a bit off topic... that would worry me. I definitely would try and spread that number between some of the other engines and work on gaining new traffic via other sources.

We are No.1 in Yahoo and also now in MSN so it would appear that the 70,000 a month who use our search terms stick to G.

Wow gp - thats pretty unusual to be #1 in all three and still have G send 96% of the traffic IME. I'd need stock in tums ;-).
