Hi,

I have had a few sites banned by google and I cant think of anyother reason but my link pages. I exchange links with everyone that sends a request. Someone recommended that I use robots.txt to stop google from visiting these pages. Do you think that would work?

having the search engine spider you links pages is not your problem. Here's your problem:
I exchange links with everyone that sends a request.

Who you link to says a lot about you. You cannot simply link to anyone that wants you to and expect to do well in the SERPs in the long haul. Be selective. Link to the highest quality sites you can. Try to show a little class, please.

and screw those who link at you? What good does linking to them do if Google can't see it?

1. Are your sites really banned?
2. You should be more selective of your links partners.
3. I check robots.txt files and check the Google cache to see if these pages are/can be indexed.

Be more selective about your link partners. Any webmaster worth his salt will catch the robots.txt and won't link to you anyway. Not to mention, IMHO, its a shady thing to do.

Thank you all for your feedback. I understand that its not ethical to block the links pages.

I have been reading here that only related links should be added. Theer are 100's of posts here that discuss this issue. The thing that I fail to see is that the top Google sites in my industry are exchanging links with anyone. Try any a search on any health related keywords and you will see.
