BLOG links outta nowhere

I have been monitoring my inbound links, like everyone should. Over the last week, I have found about 8 links from BLOG (weB LOG) sites. I have checked out the sites and all have me listed on their "links" list. I am in precisely the same spot on all the lists (the bottom).

My site has no relavance to any of these sites. Anyone know why they would be linking to me or, how they all have seemed to find me at the same time? I know I should be happy about links, I just don't know why these blog sites are linking to me.

I've had referrals from the EXACT same sites mentioned in the blog that Edouard_H linked to.

That clears up that mystery.

Our stats are now password protected. Thanks for the tip as I should have done this long ago..

I noticed yesterday referrals from the same sites mentioned. I book marked them and the links appear to be gone. When I click on the referral in my log and go to the site, my site appears at the bottom of their links list. My site does not have much traffic and pr rank is nothing amazing. Don't know why they want to bother. I need a password to read the stats in webalizer so I think my stats are password protected.

Remember the directory kwmap -- the ones who sent spiders and/or emails to a lot of people here? Check the IPs on your blog log spammers. Those guys spammed four of the blogs mentioned in that link to my site. So, their real intentions have become clear.

Sorry but please could you expand on what their intentions are as I don't know what's going on!

Read 1milehgh80210 post (#3) in this link here: [webmasterworld.com...] . It explains it pretty well. On my site, the directory guys are among the participants in this activity.

Big news ... the "blogs" aren't up anymore. Check all of those domains... they've all got Apache test pages up.

Looks to me like they were sent running with their tail between their legs.

Maybe some threats helped :)

Well, I DID go on their IRC channel and pretty much tell them that what they're doing is useless. They didn't respond, but I think they got the picture.
