Cheap basic image editor?

Is there one for less than $100

I use PhotoShop for image editing, however my customers sometimes need to do very simple image editing ie crop and optimise for web (nothing else). They don't require something as complex and expensive as PS.

Is there an inexpensive simple image editor available online for really basic image work ie crop and optimise for web? Preferably for less than $100.

Requirements:
- Crop image.
- Optimise for web.
- Less than $100.
- Windows OS.

Yep, I use PSP and it can do all those and much more for about $90 as I recall. You can buy PSP For Dummies too.

I have to go along with the other Paint Shop Pro, I have not used it for a while because I got a free copy of Fireworks, but for a slightly cheaper editor it is superb :)

Adobe Elements comes packaged with a lot of digital cameras.

It is pretty basic.

I'll put a plug in for Ulead's PhotoImpact for $90.

Years ago when I needed the same thing I chose this product over PSP.

I thought that both win2k and XP came with a picture viewer?
As far as I can remember you can crop, rotate and resize images in there? although I am not sure about the level of optimising.

Photoshop elements is an excellent stripped down and very cheap version of the origianl - not sure if it is the same as adobe elements - I would guess it is.

if the above is truly all you want then ...

ulead smart saver pro (60 usd)

you can do very basic editing such as crop, but it has the most fantastic idiotproof/visual image compression/optimisation and the compression is sweet too.

i use it as my tool of choice for web grafics imo for compression it beats all other products hands down (for editing its rubbish but if cropping and resizing dimensions is all you need then thats ok)

kapow take a look at irfanview [irfanview.com]. It's high quality, easy to use and free.

Irfanview, is good for free quick and easy cropping and also for making .ico images for when people bookmark you.

I´ll second what criag said. I just downloaded a copy of irfranview at a web cafe to do some quick editing. For resizing, cropping, and pasting multiple images together it rocks. The one major problem is selecting the transparency color for gif´s.

Yes, there is a version of gimp for windows. The only disadvantage is because of a patent it won't save gif files (but their is a download to patch that and allow you to save gif files )

PSP is great, and I swear by Irfanview. It does an incredible job of reducing jpeg file sizes. Another one that's been around for ages, is very reasonable and has always handled transparencies for GIFs well is Lview Pro.
