he has asked me to come up with some ideas on how we could make, program, develop multimedia content from his after effects stuff for broadband content.
our initial ideas were to produce the anitmation in flash (or shockwave) and have 30 second flash clips.
but as he needs this information for a proposal (for funding), we have to come up with some other ideas on how we could develop broadband content using his animations.
so the floors open - all ideas are welcome!
some of our initial thoughts:
- flash animation
- mpg/avi videos
- ringtones (for mobile/cell phones)
- animations for 3G (although what language are these apps written in?)
- flash games
- other ideas?
although it is not accessible to all, AFAIK it has the greatest coverage for this kind of project.
MPEGS and other video files are a bit clumsy IMO. You cannot tell if a user will have software that allows for the viewing of the file and often the utilities differ in performance - eg windows media player, real player etc. [also I have noticed that automatic uupdates have removed the codec files I installed to view some films! so .avi's are not functioning!] I guess if you were to choose video, MPEG wold be the safest bet.
Of cousre you can imbed mpegs in flash ... ;) (just don't ask me how)
What sort of size are the animation's? and what is there native file format? - this will have an impact on your choices.
thing is we have to write up this proposal for funding for some digitial fund from australian broadband initative; hence, we can't just say "we will transform the animations into flash for the site" - they are looking for wide array of broadband content - (i am pretty new in this area - hence dont know all the possibilities).
