Can anybody help?
I trying to create buttons using a gif image created in fireworks mx as the background (instead of the usual rectangle shape) with the text on the button (without any underlining). The buttons function is to navigate through the site.

Thanks:-)

Welcome to Webmasterworld designer.

You might want to post this thread in the Graphics forum.

Are you quite new to Fireworks? - there are a dozen ways to make buttons - I find creating my own 'over' and 'off' Gif's and then use the insert interactive images>>rollover image in dreamweaver works well.

There is also the create button in the insert symbol menu. - A little more complicated but gives you the 'down' and 'over while down' actions.

Thanks Liam, I used the Rollover image method and it seams to work well.
Yes, I'm new to website designing and using asp.net. I only did a short course and I'm keen to learn more. Are there any specific books you can recommend on getting to grips with basic things like the different methods of creating buttons, etc?

Rgds;-)

The tutorials in Fireworks and DW are pretty good starting points - Books tend to be hard to follow - Also a web search of fireworks tutorials will pull up a load sites - some have excellent tips.

I do have to say though, as with many of these things, the best way to learn is to keep plugging away - experience is everything ;)
