I am looking into developing virtual tours for local real estate agents ect. Does anyone have advise on the best software and equipment avaiable today?

Thank you,

My first thought would be the Quicktime VR stuff.

Flash

You could build in interactive panoramics of the rooms and houses.

I am doing a similar thing for a website advertising holiday rental property and it has created a very good response.

IPIX. Comes in plug-in or (ta-da) Java flavours. You need some specialist equipment and software, and some photography experience would help too. The big bonus, IMO is the relatively light output file size, around 200 - 300KB, just about feasible for even a dial up connection

QTVR is the one I've seen the most impressive work from, but ipix is a bit more economical to start up using... (or at least it was last I checked)

Ipix was offering "everything you need" starter kits for a few hundred dollars. I think QTVR requires the software and a proper panoramic tripod for your camera (and a camera with a tripod mount, which cancels out most low-end cameras).

After a lot of research I decided on Stitcher software for stitching the photos and PMVR made by Duckware to produce the tours. The result is a very clear image with no distortion. Thank you all for the suggestions.
