Flash statistics needed

% of users with flash plugin.

Do anybody know of any web sites with reliable figures regarding support of flash?

I would suspect that the percentage is very high, but can anyone put a figure on it?

Here are some stats I dug up on Google...

StatMarket (as of Oct. 2000) - almost 68%
"StatMarket publishes data gathered from more than 30 million unique daily visitors to more than 100,000 Web sites using WebSideStory's HitBox traffic analysis technology."

a university student with lots of Flash movies on his site claims 75-85% market penetration...

The major browsers ship/download with a Flash plugin, so that will certainly continue boosting the percentage...

teckies.com had an online poll with a lead in paragraph claiming over 90% market penentration for Flash plugins.

However, a lot of people won't necessarily have the *newest* Flash plugin installed... v.5 seems to be the latest, but I'm still using v.4. V.4 was out for a bout 6 months before I upgraded from v.3.

A few weeks back, WebSnapshot was reporting 83% market penetration for Flash. Macromedia was reporting 97% -- obviously too high, IMO, and not good for their credibility.

I just went to Websnapshot for an update, and discovered that they stopped offering free, general web statistics. Instead they are exclusivly hawking their "track your own site's stats" service.

No more free web statistics from WebSnapshot. I will miss it.
