Layers in Paint Shop Pro

Is it just me, or is the Layers pallette in Paint Shop Pro the crappiest feature of the program. Im a long time supporter of PSP, but if they want to keep competing with Adobe, they have to redesign the layers pallette. Its huge, clunky, and totally aweful to work with. All they have to do is COPY Photoshop's layers, and PSP will be ready to move on. Until then, PSP users are limited to an overly complicated mess when dealign with layers.

I had to get this off my chest, and there has to be others who are as frustraded as i am with the layers in PSP.....

PSP was a nice program to start with, but the interface in general wsn't that great. I haven't used adobe yet(yeah, I know), but PSP could learn some things from Fireworks MX (and vise versa).

Yes, the interface is rather "propietary" for layers and other functions. Not having used the brand-spanking new version, I don't know if the interfaces have been redesigned or remain the same. Apparently, you can now create actions similar to Photoshop, which I think is pretty neat. (At least if you fight through the interfaces the first time and get it right, you can sit back and cruise using "actions" on repetitious stuff.)

I don't know that PSP is actually competing with Adobe as much as they are simply offering a popular, lower priced alternative. Even with some kludgy interfaces, PSP is a very feature-rich program at something like $100. At that price, I'll give them some leeway as far as how their interfaces and features compare to Adobe's.

I have PSP, Photoshop, and UleadPhotoImpact. I find myself using PI and PSP more than anything else, despite some not-so-kind write-ups about their interfaces. I also have a hard, uncomfortable, bentwood office chair. I guess it goes to show you can get used to almost anything (no matter how unfriendly) if you use it enough :)

PSP8 is the biggest improvement and most dramatic to date. THe itnerface is totally different, and has taken a few pointers from Macromedia, having a floating properties bar liek in Dreamweaver and Flash MX. BUT, the layers pallette is the only element that hasnt evolved. PSP8 stepped up all their icons, because before theyw ere still catering to the 256 color monitors.
