I had to get this off my chest, and there has to be others who are as frustraded as i am with the layers in PSP.....

I don't know that PSP is actually competing with Adobe as much as they are simply offering a popular, lower priced alternative. Even with some kludgy interfaces, PSP is a very feature-rich program at something like $100. At that price, I'll give them some leeway as far as how their interfaces and features compare to Adobe's.
I have PSP, Photoshop, and UleadPhotoImpact. I find myself using PI and PSP more than anything else, despite some not-so-kind write-ups about their interfaces. I also have a hard, uncomfortable, bentwood office chair. I guess it goes to show you can get used to almost anything (no matter how unfriendly) if you use it enough :)
