Graphics Cards PAL &NTSC stuff

What is the best solution for converting a PAL video format to NTSC

Hey Guys,

I was looking into converting a PAL video into NTSC.

I was exploring two different options:

1. Purchasing a converter and just recording from tape to tape.

2. Purchasing a graphics card that can support PAL video in and using Adobe Premier or other software to edit it and output to NTSC. The added bonus of this is it will let me edit the video as well as burn copies to CD in whatever media format I want.

I'm leaning towards going with the second idea.

Can you please advise me on which graphics cards are capable of doing something like this and which of them are the better ones to use.

Not sure about this one myself... but hopefully someone will be along soon with experience in PAL video. I know we do have a lot of non-US members, so someone should have an idea!

I would suggest the computer route. I have not done PAL NTSC conversion in several years so I don't know what cards are available. What is the media of the video VHS, Beta, 8mil? Pal has better rez so if you want to go tape to tape there won't be too much generation loss.

Really, I think any major graphics card manufacturer should have specs on their site that tell you which one's will process both PAL and NTSC properly... then all you need is a PAL VCR to play the originals onto your hard drive.

No experience in that area, but it seems like any card would work fine if it came from a reputable company and allowed PAL input.
