...I want to post an update - since that time I have been using PhotoImpact by Ulead [ulead.com...] - it's the same idea as MIC, a nice big workspace and no fooling around with layers. Just make a huge "Canvas" site, and copy and paste and move around your sprites all you want just like in MIC.

Support Ulead, they are the standard bearer of this wonderfully elegant and fast technology Microsoft has given up on.
