I have a picture, that I need to remove the background. There are so many pixels it turns out to be really hard to keep the quality of the picture. Does anyone know a great way to get rid of the background in a pic. oh, btw I am using photoshop 7...thanks Sorry if my graphics lingo isn't all that..:-) thanks in advance

You could just use the magic wand tool, adjust the tolerance, click the background. Keep clicking the background whilst holding shift until you have all of the unwanted background selected. press delete.
If youre afraid of the jaggedness, then use the eraser to carefuly erase the edges, or use a mask in illustrator.

Try using the eraser tool in "magic" mode, which removes the lot at one go. There is also a "background eraser" mode

I believe the correct way to do this would be to create a clipping path. I've tried just about every magic wand solution in various programs and nothing beats a clipping path. It is tedious work, but the end result is worth it.

If you try clipping paths in Google there are some tutorials there. As Pageoneresults says, its much harder work, but you get a better result :(
