Anyone know any cheap and easy image scanning software I can recommend to my graphics and computer challenged friends? I can't survive any more multiple "tech support" calls on Sunday evenings. I swear I'll lost my mind, my temper, and my friends :(

It needs to be absolutely, absolutely simple and have re-sizing and cropping capabilities without relying on any other image editing program (standalone). Put picture on scanner-> hit scan-> crop-> resize-> save as .jpg.

Have you checked out Photoshop Elements? That's supposed to be simpler than a full copy of PS is... Heck, I explained how to scan and resize a photo in Elements to my mother, and it only took once! It can't be that complex. ;)

idiotgirl... I have a multi-function printer & scanner at home, and when I added XP it auto-configured for the scanner. You just select 'My Pictures' then select 'Get Pictures from Scanner' and the image is done.

In my case I have several ways to handle the cropping... PhotoShop, ImageStyler, etc. But if your friends are running XP, they are already half-way home!

Friends are not using XP, and a variety of scanners. I'm thinking Photoshop Elements might be the way to go. I read the info on the program and it looks fairly straightforward. Perhaps if they were using XP it would be even easier, but...
