Seth was talking about PhotoShop6 [webmasterworld.com] and I think I am a little envious.

Anyone else disappointed in PSP7? I sure am. I bought it last week and the thing just makes my system CRAWL. From slow windows opening, to slow tools, it is hard to use. Not as bad on the 566, but here on my main box (333cel), it is a pig. I sure don't see what all the fuss is about from 6 to 7 - the new features just aren't there like they were from 5 to 6.

On another note, I could get lost for days in Xara3d (the coolest program on the planet).

There's an excellent set of Photoshop tutorials at nebulus.org [nebulus.org]. I find that they really fill in the blanks on a lot of basic functions and terminology, and yet still have lots to offer the accomplished user. The sections on color physics are real eye openers. A lot of the information ports pretty well to other graphics programs.

That's a fact. I think the big culprits are the enhanced type engine and additional color management. I'm amazed at how long "loading type engine" and "loading CMS" stay on the screen. And there is even a further load the first time you use the type tool.

If you just use Photoshop for the web and don't need all the pre-press stuff, it really is a lot of baggage to carry. But it is also a very cool organizational tool for templates, buttons, and other site features.

tedster - Perfect! The nebulus site is exactly what I was looking for, read the first tutorial and already learned the underlying specifics to several items that were familar, but vague to me.

I tend to be more a draftsman type, not an artistic type... Any idea where I can find a pound or two of creativity to go with this newfound understanding??? :)

It really is, the version I have has some video tutorials that are pretty cool, they make everything look so easy.
