Looking for a Tiny Font for Use in Graphics

An 8pt font that people can actually read.

Occassionally, I have a demand for GIF images with super-small text. Unfortunately, most of my fonts fall apart (get fuzzy) below 10pt. I have been using the 04b_03 font, which is 'ok', but am looking for a basic 'straigh line' font that can hold together at such a small size for use in graphic images.

Any suggestions?

MS Win comes with a font called Small Font in FON format. It goes as small as 4pt, I think.

I use Windows, but for some reason don't have that particular font. Will check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Jimbeetle... Excellent Thread! This forum never ceases to amaze me! (I have been doing this since 1995, and for the most part have had to learn the hard way through wasting alot of time to find many of my answers).

The thread you recommended mentioned the 'silkscreen' font, and I just downloaded it and tried it. It's Perfect!

Yeah, I was able to put a couple of those things to use right away. Nice not having to knock your head against the wall all the time and chase your butt in circles. Kudos to all who share their secrets.

If your fonts get "fuzzy" at 8pt and below, that is quite small; why don't you just turn off anti-aliasing for it?

I use 8pt Arial on my site quite often and it seems to work well.

Search Google for "pixel fonts" and you'll find a ton of fonts designed to be used super-small with anti-aliasing off.

I love this font - I've found nothing as good as this for really small but still legible text!
