Some of us play with graphics, which include typography.
This is a silly question (but not so silly, read on):
How many fonts (all weights and styles) do you have in your inventory? I have 15,002 (and may 33 more, have to check them out... which prompted this question).
Of that number of fonts you have, how many do you actually use for title, display, and body text? Include in that number any fonts available on various OS platforms (MS, Apple, Linux) where you do NOT embed a font, use G or WEFT ...
For me that number is 25, though for appearance and readability I rarely use more than three fonts or more than two weights and the associated italic on any given SITE, much less a document!
That said, there are some Text as Graphics which just have to be done (think logos, other fun stuff), and in that vein I've probably used more than 500 over the past fifteen years.
In this new world of mobile the Text as Graphics (think button to tap) as come back and in that there is a lot of designer style which can be presented. Fun thing is your CSS can help determine when to display or NOT display these little treats.
Just curious, kiddies. Most of the time we are sensible and do everything with existing fonts, css style our buttons and move on... but there are those sites which BEG to be ornamented and adorned and, for that, nothing beats a "picture".
