GIF Images Not Showing.

A site I own shows images ( to me ) if I go to the site from a search engine, but not if I click on a link, or if I type in the dedicated IP address. My programmer says it is just my isp, but other users have alerted me to this issue. I am totally lost in programming issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are your image paths relative or absolute? Are your images on a different server or domain? Are the pages dynamic or static? What is their extention asp/jsp/php/htm/html/shtml/cfm?

Right click a link, choose properties, look at the url address. Does it show http*//blah,blah,blah or does it show: c:mydesktop/folder...

It shows:
<img src="/images/blahblah.jpg" width=720 height=103 alt="" border="0">

It seems the path isn't good if someone views the site from link. I really don't understand these things, so I'll probably have to get another programmer.

Using

<img src="http*//www.yourdomain.com/images/blahblah.jpg" width=720 height=103 alt="" border="0">

instead of

<img src="/images/blahblah.jpg" width=720 height=103 alt="" border="0">

should fix the problem

I would also not use the IP address in your links instead of the domain name.

Is it possible to re-direct IP referrers to the domain? For example, if somebody clicked on http*//123.456.78.91 it would go to http*//www.mydomain.com?

Your webhost should take care of that. That's exactly what DNS records are for: correlating domain names with their proper IP Addresses.

My question is why use the IP for any links? Like mivox says, thats what domains are for.

What is your host nt or unix? I believe a mod_rewrite on unix can take care of that. If you are on nt you will need to set up a global.asa.
