What is the best software for converting DVD content (*.ifo) to a video format such as MPEG, AVI, MOV or something similar. I want to take the contents of the DVD and upload the videos to a Youtube -type site. Robert Shields

The ifo file is just a set of directions, basically a bunch of meta data. The video is contained in the .vob file. If it's not protected there's simple program called Vob2mpg that is free you can use to rip the VOB file to a MPEG2, this file is an exact duplicate of what's on the disc.
From there you can use various encoders to reencode it to a more suitable format for upload. If the accept WMV rthat's proabaly your best bet, Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media encoder can do this for you.

I use dvd4web converter to convert dvd to video, so far so good, but don't kown whether it is best.
