Illustrator artwork in Flash

Anyone know how to keep Flash from rounding the corners and ends of imported Illustrator artwork? I have this nice, blocky icon design with a lot of 90 degree angles, and in Flash it comes in with rounded corners. Not exactly what I wanted. Seems that even when I draw a line within Flash it shows the same characteristics (round corners, ends) although boxes look fine. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks!

There is a corner radius setting in flash that you need to turn off. What version of flash are you using?

This one should have rounded corners. Remember: Flash will remember this setting so before you draw another standard rectange you should set it back to 0.

It could also be your smooth pencil modifier.

I've had difficulty taking graphics from Illustrator to Flash in the past. The two solutions I've come up with are to import the Illustrator graphics into Fireworks and re-save them. Or to save the file as Illustrator 7.0 - only problem is that you lose any gradients you had.

Hey guys. Thanks for the tips. So a weird combination of things finally led to a solution. (BTW I'm using Flash 5 / Fireworks 4 / AI 9 on a Mac) The import into Fireworks gave the same rounded results, but I was able to set the stroke in Fireworks to basic:hard line and get the lines sharp and square again. Exporting an SWF and an AI and re-importing into Flash gave exactly the same results as the original EPS. Finally, a simple copy/paste from Fireworks into Flash solved the problem. Go figure. (This did not work from Illustrator to Flash, BTW) As far as drawing lines in Flash, anything over 2 pts still has rounded ends. Try a 10 pt line and see if you can make the ends flat. Great for drawing the Macromedia logo, I suppose. I'll stick with Fireworks for now. Thanks again!

Finally, a simple copy/paste from Fireworks into Flash solved the problem. Go figure. (This did not work from Illustrator to Flash, BTW)

Interesting, but not too surprising... Macromedia-->Macromedia works fine, but Adobe-->Macromedia doesn't. ;)
