This is driving me nuts!

This is making me crazy here. Normally when I select type with the select tool, the "envelope" with the little handlebars appears around the text, which allows you to scale and distort the text with relative ease.

SUddenly, I no longer have this feature. I was working in a document, scaling text at will using this method. But suddenly the envelope and handlebars no longer appear when I select text.

They appear around all other objects, just not text.

I cannot figure out how to get them back. This has happened before, but I cannot recall how to turn them back on.

Can anyone help?

Grr. Finally found it.

I turned off the Bounding Box by accidentally hitting Ctrl-Shift-B (View-Hide/Show Bounding Box) while trying to bold some text. That command bolds text in InDesign, and I sometimes get my keyboard shortcuts confused when switching from one Adobe app to another.

if you have the time you could set up your shortcuts to mirror the tool you use the most...

I might have to look into that.

There are so many keyboard shortcuts that do work across all Adobe apps that it can be real easy to momentarily forget which ones don't work, or don't work the same way.

I did it in illustrator for a few of the ones that drove me bonkers - what's nice is you can set up the shortcuts as sets - allowing you to revert if you need to.

I know that MM products used to have alternative sets built in, they mimicked other software packages... I wonder if Adobe does that..?
