Free movie capture program to use with my cam?

My cam comes with WMP format and no other choice!

I have a Logitech Quickcam 5000 and it's pretty decent. The software that comes with it is alright however the videos only export as Windows Media Player format! As a standards Nazi I can't be posting videos in proprietary formats that won't work on a MAC or well basically aren't encoded with DivX! ;)

Anyway what programs are out there that could be used to create video with my web cam as the video source? I desire to export the video either as uncompressed, DivX, or in QuickTime compatible format. A cut-n-paste editor would be nice to but I'm assuming I couldn't get that much for free! Thanks!

Quicktime Pro or Final Cut would be the options for a project with a budget - for freeware, this thread came up a few weeks ago: [webmasterworld.com...]

Most video editing software can output to a variety of formats including MPEG.

There is Camstudio, but it is really for recording the screen. I think its does webcams too.
