The border is only one pixel wide (the favicon is 16 x 16 pixels) but it looks very thick when it pops up as I view my website.
Google's favicon has a border with a red line on the right side. I could swear it's thinner than mine, and I doubt this could be just because it's red instead of black.
Is there some way they might be able to make their border thinner?
I should add that while I say my border is only one pixel wide, my PC might actually be using two pixels to display it. Not sure.

I think their art dept went to some lengths to trick the eye into assuming the line is thinner. If your balck line looks too think, you might want to experiment with grays of various darkness.
