Slices in Layer Comps in Photoshop CS

I'm hoping someone here knows the answer to this because I'm not having any luck finding it myself.

I'm using Adobe CS (ImageReady 8.0 in particular) and I'm trying to get slice selections to work with my layer comps since many of my slices overlap and don't contain one layer or the other. I can get the layer comps and slice sets to work fine seperately but I can't get the layer comp to have any effect on the slices. I have visiblity, position, and layer style selected for each layer comp.

I've been over the Abobe "Help" a zillion times and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Is this even supposed to work like I think it is?

I didnt think you could do this... maybe you need to work with several master files instead of trying to do this from one PSD file.
