Avoid text antialiasing in Flash

I love using Flash for just images.. It gives you so much controle over the drawing, and makes it damn simple. None of this CUT, SLICE crap goin on there... I never really got a good grip on drawing vector graphics with that little pen tool...

**** Suggestion for Flash MX (or perhaps MXX)
have an option i output to reduce the dang antialiasing... The text gets too dang fuzzy sometimes... Y'all know what i mean

You can actually use the fonts with the underscore in front [eg _sans] shipped with the product which kills the antialiasing.

There are also several bitmap fonts available which are not so crappy when the fonts get smaller than 10 px.

It's a common problem with a common solution :)

kingkelly, if you do a quick web search on "pixel fonts" you should find a whole bunch that will help out. It seems to be quite the hot niche market in the font trade, since flash came out.

Sooo if the font has a _ in front of it, there wont be any antialiasing at all? Even for programs that arent Flash (PaintShop Pro also screws me over)?

I downloaded some from miniml.com. Its still a bit blurry in flash though, dont see much of a difference.

the quality setting of the exported swf also affects anti-aliasing

When using pixel fonts make sure the x and y co-ords do not have any decimal places as this will cause them to appear blurred.
