Fighting generation loss in jpeg images

I've just made another happy discovery about the Pegasus JPEG Wizard (there is a free online version [jpegwizard.com].)

The first discovery was that it will rotate or mirror a jpeg image without the decompression/recompression information loss. Today I discovered that the downloadable version also allows you to crop a jpeg without degrading the image.

This is VERY useful -- and it's amazing to me that Adobe and MacroMedia apps don't do this, but as far as I can see, they don't.

My impression was that Fireworks does any operation on a jpg in png format, lossless.

Free online version whatever.... I want a Mac Photoshop plugin!!! :(

Photoshop does not degrade the quality of the image during any of the mentioned actions (and none that i know of). You do not work with it in jpg format but their native format.

I was also under the impression that photoshop translated everything into a PSD file type before allowing you to edit it, and then re-jpged it when you chose to save it in jpg format.
