flatbed recommendations

has anyone recently bought a scanner that they'd be willing to recommend?

needs to be sufficient for scanning materials nicely for the web at best.

I just bought a Microtek 4800....converts to .pdf and .doc with good accuracy at the touch of a button. 48 bit 2400x1200 optical.

I went through 2 Visioneer scanners in 2 years...safe to say they aren't up to par.

he is chep fast great result of quality of the pics, and copiator works great

I have an Epson Perfection 1200S, which I adore. A little color correction is sometimes needed on very bright colors, but it's fast and reliable.

What about a flatbed scanner with a slide or film attachment? Some of these attachments look rather cheesy... anyone have experience in using them? I'd mostly be scanning typical documents, books, etc., but being able to throw in the odd slide or negative strip would be a major plus.
