I wanted to know what is the best and easiest way for creating a spinning globe image?

Should I use Imageready animation or create it in flash?

I use Photoshop and Imageready....can I accomplish this using these softwares?

Please help

I can't answer for the software you mentionned but I am sure it can be done! But before you start, you must know which output format you want (avi, animated gif, flash, etc.)

Nonetheless, I have done mine using rendering software...
Great because you really have that 3D spinning feeling and can place realistic background and spotlights.

Well, if you need a small animation of a spinning earth and are not in a hurry, then sticky me...

Not only can it be done but it has been done. Many, many times. Within this forum. You should be able to find some sources here if you search the threads for "spinning globe". Also i'm sure the usual stock imagery foundries online have that kind of stuff.

I'd also suggest that you consider for a second whether you really want to use the tired image of a spinning globe. I mean really, what message does it convey? When i see a spinning globe, i think "vague business model from a suspect company".

Well, I know what you mean---Don_Hoagie but I am supposed to make it for someone who feels that the spinning globe will reflect a truly global image for the Company......

But making the globe spin has been more difficult than I imagined it to be! :(

I am still working on it!

I haven't used any image rendering programs in years so I don't know which one is the best or cheapest, but I used Bryce years ago and creating a great looking spinning globe would have been quite easy. If i'm not mistaken there is a great free, possibly open source, rendering program out their now, you should look into that.

I still think you should just find a spinning globe somewhere in stock imagery websites rather than bother to take the time to make it... no matter what good suggestions people may be giving for rendering programs or Flash or anything else.

I can't imagine that the end result of making a spinning globe graphic yourself could be so different from a stock graphic that the client will notice a difference... of course, they may notice the difference when you bill them for 1.5 hrs of work to make the globe.

Yes, Twist. Bryce is a good free rendering software, but the best one ever is POVray (Persistance of Vision). The great thing about this software, it's pure hardcoding and a perfect tool for programmers.

Contentmaster: so did you manage to make your spinning globe from the pictures I sent you... At least, I was expecting a feedback (or a thank you) from you :(

A spinning globe is standard food to cut your teeth on in flash ...

go to flashkit and there will be many options...

opt for actionscript versions, file size tends to be a lot smaller ..
