rotating image?

I want to be able to take an image of a car (from the side) and I the user to be able to click on arrow and have the perspective change. For example if they clicked on the left it would be like you moved to the front of the car. I don't think it's quite 3D but hopefully that explains what I am talking about. I don't know where to start on getting that done. I have access to the car I want to do this with.

It seems you just need a script that would allow the user to scroll through your images:

My problem might be a little more complicated. I would rather have it be like a virtual tour AROUND the car. Kinda like rotating an object in VRML if you have ever fooled around with that. You can click on the image, rotate the image with the mouse. I only want to rotate the image along one axis.

Is there a tool that would allow me to take X number of pictures and the program would "connect" them together. Thus appearing like one smooth image.

I've seen something like that, done with an imagemap and simple Javascript onmouseover images a few years ago.
An image of a Swiss watch with 10-15 small vertical mouseover areas. With each mouseover an image loaded with the watch let's say 10 degrees rotated. Left and right. Did look great. Not too difficult to code.
The problem is making the pictures you need. You can put a watch on a turntable and your camera on a tripod and make all the pictures you need. But where to find a turntable that is big enough for a car..

Some people have these installed under their driveways if they don't have enough space to turn around and don't want to back out into traffic. I imagine if you look hard enough in a large city, you could find one. Or talk to your local car dealership to see if you could "borrow" their showroom turntable.

Doing a search for [javascript 360°] or [javascript panoramic] may help locate some scripts that do what you require.

For a lame-o turntable effect, you can always pick a large and empty parking lot. Pick an area where there is plain blacktop without lines, then:

Position car, and take first picture.
Then get in the car, drive forward and turn a bit, back up into the same spot and it is rotated slightly, take another picture.
Keep doing that...

A bit time-consuming, but it works.

I could go to a car dealership, if I can find one that has that. Some high-end car dealerships have them...if I can convince them to let me use it. However, think I can do it without a turntable, check out this idea.

I mark the center of the roof on the car. I take a piece of rope and tie one end to my tripod and with the help of an assistant the other end is touching the "mark". The rope will act as the radius for my circle. I just move the tripod and measure the distance aka radius with the rope. Take the rope down, take the pic, rinse and repeat. What do you think?

It depends on from which perspective you're wanting the user to view the car. The way you have described will work and the user will be able to view the car in 360 degrees. However, it will look like they're moving around the car, rather than the car moving. And bear in mind that the background will change as well, which could actually be pretty cool. If you don't want the background to change, you could always use a massive drape or take the photos from a slightly elevated angle, so you'd include more of the floor and less of the background horizon.

So this wouldn't give a turntable effect, but it would achieve your initial objective.
