You will need flash not fireworks to create swf files.

A quick search will turn up a huge amount of tutorials - I like flashKit - learnt a lot there.

you can do the .swf files with swishmax also ..less money ..bigger files ..not as versatile ..But can do some things that flash cant do ( and before you start in on me L ;) ..my son tells me and he has both ..and he has shown me that he knows what he's telling me ..some of it I even followed ;)..
