HI,

This may have been answered before but here goes.

I want to create some WMV files from what are high quality QUICKTIME movies so that users can download the files over broadband and watch them offline.

I want the final WMV files to be good quality for web [pretty good video and audio required as its for guitar tuition purposes]. i am using a program called Xilisoft Convertor to convert the files with mixed results and am using the following sizes:
video 400x300px [is 320x240px the acepted standard for downloasdable web video?]
bit rate 456kpbs
audio 48kbps @ 44100khz and mono

i am trying to keep the resultant filesize below 20MB for a 4min movie.

can anyone suggest a really good [preferably free or shareware] program for creating great WMV files from a MOV file using the wmv9 format? or any other suggestions/tips about how to get the best quality at around a 20Mb filesize or less.

also -- when i code the movie out it plays ok but dosen't seem to allow me to jump forward or back -- how can i create a WMV file that allows me to do this?

thanks

G

As travelincat mentioned, Discreet's (or apparently now Autodesk's) "Media Cleaner" is the industry standard in converting something to something else.

It is expensive as all hell, however there are usually free trials around. I don't know what kind of limitations those trials have.

If you can lay your hands on a Mac, then:

Is a fantastic option for 30 bucks. We use it in our studio for all our conversions.
