best program for video editing

Hi there,

I need to do some video editing for a web site and just need to do some resizing. Was wondering what the best program there is for this simple task. Any freeware out there that can do this?

Are you on a mac or pc? lots of free stuff for the mac, I believe imovie will do this and it comes with system X

also- you say "editing" and then you say "resizing"

they are 2 different "tasks".

Do you want to EDIT the video, ie: cut out portions or re-arrange scenes?

Or do you want to keep the video intact but change the FILE SIZE of the video?

Or do you want to change the screen size of the video ie: change from 640px wide to 320px wide?

as mentioned already, what OS you use is helpful as is the type of video file. What format is it?
